Hello! I'm Noora and I occassionally draw things. This is my doodleblog/personal blog!
Occassionally NSFW, but i try to tag everything!

how many times have i seen that post on my dash (about an artist getting angry at someone because they want to be friends with them but pointed out that they’d only be friends with other good artists) and just rolled my eyes at the complete bullshit…
You deleted your other reblog so I’m just gonna reblog this with what I was gonna reply to that since I already wrote it.
I didn’t say anyone is perfect (that’s the exact opposite of what I said), just that they aren’t required to be friends with a person just because they are nice to them. I’m sure they still appreciate the fact that you like them as a person and for their skills, but no one is entitled to anyone’s friendship. I don’t think they’re entitled to give anyone a chance, either. It’s their life and their relationships and they aren’t required to spend more energy on it than they want.
Based on what you said, I don’t think saying “I’m busy” isn’t exactly treating anyone like shit? In a very very few instances have I seen big name fans treat anyone badly and even then I can’t say because I don’t know the circumstances that happened behind there and they are just human. No one is nice all the time.
Idk “i was nice to them and they wouldn’t be my friends what assholes” sounds a little like nice guy attitude though I guess it can feel like a personal attack for someone to say they don’t have the time to get to know you personally and be your friend.
I personally wouldn’t begrudge anyone for that (I’d be a little hurt but probably get over it soon), though, especially if they were “popular” as they probably get a lot of people wanting to be their friends and after a certain point it’s impossible for them to put the effort into being friends with most(all of those people.

dreadelion reply super saijahow many times have i seen that post on my dash (about an artist getting angry at someone because they want to be friends with them but pointed out that they’d only be friends with other good artists) and just rolled my eyes at the complete bullshit present in the answer…
I don’t think that’s true, though. Being good at something doesn’t correlate to being a pleasant person (though neither does it exclude that!).
I think the fact that artist tend to be friends with other artists is more of a result from the fact that they have something in common to begin with, that usually serves as a good ice breaker.
I know a lot of people probably think this way though, especially the people idolizing others I guess?? So maybe another artist/musician/cosplayer wouldn’t be so intimated to talk to someone they look up to!
I imagine it would be highly awkward to try to make friends with someone who idolizes you, thus placing you on a very high pedestal because that makes you feel the only way you can go is down. But if you actually manage to treat someone you like as another regular person (this doesn’t exclude you from admiring their talents!) you’re on a pretty even ground to making a new friend as you would be with anyone.
And if someone doesn’t find themselves able to look past the fact that you aren’t as skilled or admired as them, and see the other strengths, then maybe they don’t deserve your friendship??
then again I’m pretty sure no one idolizes me so maybe I’m wrong? I know a lot of super cool artists and they’re all really amazing people who definitely wouldn’t discriminate people simply based on their skill set.
Not saying they’re required to be friends with EVERYONE but that is definitely not the deciding factor.theres nothing wrong with big name fans only being friends with other big name fans. it happens all the time. rarely do you see big name fans being best buds with people who suck at drawing/cosplaying/whatever, or people who contribute nothing to the fandom.
all im pointing out is that it happens, and nothing can really upset that balance. no amount of “not acting awkward, not saying ‘can we be friends’” or whatever is going to fix it. im only saying this based on my experience trying to socialize with big name fans. i pretty much talked to them like they were equal to me, didnt put them on a pedestal, talked to them like i would talk to my current friends… still got my head bit off, constantly told “theyre busy” (obvious bullshit at that point).
im just sick of people thinking its JUST because they need to act differently. it’s not just that. and ive already pointed out the other reasons. JUST acting more relaxed isnt going to instantly be a magic spell for people to be friends with big name fans. you also need to be good at what you contribute to the fandom. otherwise it cannot be done.
Yeah, no, I didn’t say that was the only thing required to be friends with someone! But you can’t automatically be friends with everyone, that’s not how people work. No one is required to be your friend and honestly, they really probably were busy! I don’t think it’s “biting anyone’s head off”.
Maintaining and creating relationships takes a lot of resources and sometimes people have so many other things going on they can’t afford that. But I honestly don’t think it means that they are only willing to be friends with other big name fans.
You will notice the friendship between big name fans in fandoms more simply because you see a lot of both parties!
Also, there is the factor that if someone is famous (to at least some degree), the other person will probably already know something about them, the way they act, their sense of humor. That’s why people want to befriend these people (for the most part at least?), they see them and think they’re funny and great and wow also talented! That’s pretty sweet.
And other big name fans will also possibly think that way? Like, they already have something to go on about what kind of a person the other is. But I don’t think it’s an indicator that they simply pick their friends based on their talents. It’s just that they already have the basics of getting to know someone down, so there’s less of a chance for the friendship to fail based on incompatible personalities.

rokesy replied to your post: help me this person is still going about how…
oh my fucking god
they couldnt even come up with an argument anymore so they just went the “ok” ”get over it” route i dont know whether to cry our laugh because their inability to understand words makes me want to do both
reply rokesyhelp me this person is still going about how reposting art isn’t wrong
its like if they admitted they were wrong it would destroy them completely as a person
i told them it was actually forbidden in tumblr rules and they insisted it wasn’t and QUOTED THE RULES TO ME and IT SAID EXACTLY WHAT I TOLD IT SAID?? but they somehow managed to interpret it wrong anyway
theyre just completely refusing to listen to any reason this is like trying to debate intellectually with crying baby
she keeps insisting it was ok because it had citation and she posted the art on a public blog so everyone can obvs do anything they can with it except
“You retain ownership of any intellectual property you post to Tumblr.”

What I had to say about reposting art and the reply I got, posted under readmore because I feel like I want to say this but it would take too long to rephrase everything since it’s responding to what this other person defending art reposting said
I also have not slept for 23 hours jesus christ so it’s not perfect I’m not very good at getting my thoughts and feelings across but I think I did a decent job.
DISCLAIMER: i (neitheir does the original artist!) actually have no beef with the reposter, chances are they are new and would have/will take the post down and reblog the original! All my beef is with people being jerks
but it would be rly long so it’s under a readmore!
but why would you repost this? sure you credited me and all but i already made a post, OBVIOUSLY. i haven’t even uploaded this anywhere else than tumblr. you could easily just reblog my post since there’s where you got my drawing from in the first place.
i just don’t get this??? and please don’t tell me “oh i was just being supportive by showing everyone your great art etc” because it would be WAY more supportive if you had just reblogged my post. i mean you didn’t even link me so what’s the deal here.
please explain to me why this is a thing.
So forgive me if I’m getting this mixed up or something, but… The support your art gets doesn’t matter, it’s the location of an arbitrary number on the internet that does?
no the thing is that most people who liked/reblogged this probably never even bothered to check who made it. i mean sure my url is right there but there’s no link and it doesn’t even say where they got it from so they could be looking for me on DA for all i know. but as i said before they probably didn’t even bother.
it’s just like that other repost that got about 5000 notes now that didn’t have a proper source. if the person reposting don’t even link to the original post or the artist they might as well not have sourced it at all.
it’s just like when i see some great art on tumblr that says like
“Big Trees by Randomperson92”i don’t go google their name, i just like/reblog and move on with my life.
but if i see“Big Trees by Randomperson92”
i can’t help myself. i just have to click the link. and i know you can’t either. and i know that’s pretty much how everyone works.
but right now i’m mostly mad because they actually went through all that effort to save this drawing from the original post that i made just to make a new post when they could’ve just reblogged it. THEY COULD’VE JUST REBLOGGED IT.
So because you are lazy, and other people are lazy, the support your art gets doesn’t matter, only the placement of arbitrary numbers on the internet does. Got it. A name is plenty a proper source, if someone likes your shit then they’ll look it up. It’s -a number-.
wow you still don’t get it
THEY COULD’VE JUST REBLOGGED IT
THAT WOULD’VE BEEN WAY MORE SUPPORTING
ok let’s place it like this:
you draw something
you put it on the wall for everyone to see
someone comes and takes it down and walks away with it
you don’t notice until you see someone with your art walking around saying “look at this, this person made this, neat right??” and they agree with them! but now they’re not going to go ask around for you. so you will never get the credit you deserve.
instead they could’ve seen your drawing on the wall, left it there, and pointed at it going “look, here’s this person with some really cool art!” and people would’ve come to YOU at the wall instead. and you would’ve gotten the credit you deserve. DO YOU GET WHY I’M UPSET NOW?
THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY NUMBERS WHATSOEVER.Ok. They could have, but they didn’t. The only thing you’re -not- getting is, hey, an arbitrary number of blog visits. And an arbitrary number of notes on something that you posted. Who cares if X gets more notes? Notes are not a direct link to praise of the poster. They’re a direct link to appreciation of content, hence, ‘I like this’. Who cares if X has more followers, or WHATEVER. Are you not receiving praise for your art EITHER WAY? I get it fine, you’re upset that lazy people won’t look up your stuff posted by you. You feel that someone else getting ‘liked’ means that people are appreciating THEM, not you. Which makes 0 sense to me. Your work was credited fine. Are you “losing” something when people who genuinely like your art cannot even be assed to click on a link? Your analogy is faulty because nobody “took” your art away from your wall. It’s still there. In fact, it’s being shown to a wider audience now because there are two pieces floating around, receiving praise. You’re not losing followers because of “questioning another user’s ways”, you’re losing followers because you consistently whine about the most inane, popularity contest type crap and it gets OLD.
you still don’t get it.
i suppose you’re not an artist because if you were you would understand
can someone else cut in and explain what i’m trying to say because i am done. i literaly have nothing else to say. i have tried EVERYTHING to make you understand.
this has nothing to do about numbers or followers or notes or anything like that.
and yes i am whining but i wouldn’t be if you had stayed out if this.
like what are you even trying to say?
that artists are stupid because WE CARE ABOUT OUR WORKS?
and because we feel like WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO GET THE PROPER CREDIT THAT WE DESERVE FOR SPENDING YEARS OF OUR LIVES CREATING THINGS THAT YOU OTHERS CAN’T FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT?
this drawing is my baby and i decide where it’s to be put and how it’s going to be used. end of story.
i’m in complete agreement with cas, here. for an artist, reposting in general, with or without credit, can be pretty big blow to us. :c it’s alright that you, OP, have a differing opinion, but you really ought to take into account the words of the person who ORIGINALLY DREW the picture that you are merely reposting. it’s theirs to decide what they do and do not want done with it, not yours.
i dont usually reblog stuff like this but this person is mad disrespectful. I’m kind of hoping they will realize that wow a lot of people care about this maybe it actually is something i should maybe actually give some thought to!
I know a lot of artists!! and i dont even need all the fingers on one hand to count how many are okay with reposting (and even they only if it’s properly credited!)
I sent like, an 8 ask long (WOOPS) thing to this person trying to explain my point of view on the matter and im really hoping they’ll respond and think about it or at least show that they are willing to discuss things civilly and listen!
but i know it takes a really brave person to accept and admit that they were wrong and judging from the way they kept defending their stance in almost exactly the same wording people defending men cat calling women etc. and how they kept repeating the same things over and over again without listening to what the artist had to say
so honestly all im expecting something of a verbal equivalent of baring their buttocks at my general direction and farting out poop all over their butt cheeks and then just pulling their pants up and walking around with poopy pants for the rest of their day
you get chafes that way :(
